Reflecting on the incident of a few days prior, I can now concede that Carolina was right to strike out the sentence, “we can all point out the inequality elephant in the room” in an essay of mine that she was editing (she later misremembered the phrase as “the injustice elephant,” something I wish I’d come up with). I should add that the unbridled glee with which she did so made her, for just the merest instant, a pun poacher. Thankfully, there’s no indication as of yet that these puns will ever face the danger of extinction.


Poaching is a significant social and environmental concern, and the light treatment above of the topic shouldn’t downplay the seriousness of this issue.
